Originating in China, green tea is made from the same leaves used in black tea and oolong. However, they’re picked earlier in the year and oven-roasted, as to avoid the oxidation process that gives black tea leaves their flavor. The result is a grassy, earthy, sometimes buttery taste loved by tea drinkers worldwide.
Green tea does best when brewed at a lower temperature (between 140-160° Fahrenheit), which yields a sweeter, less bitter flavor.
